Google Nexus 7 starts from $199. Is Google coming up with much cheaper tablet in near future than this? It is widely rumored that both Google as well as Asus are working together in bringing to market a $99 Nexus tablet.
A report published by Digitimes says the two giants will be coming up with new Nexus tablets for $99 and $199 by this year end, tapping the Christmas market.
Relying on anonymous sources in the supply chain of Asus, the tech website added the upcoming tablets will be thinner than Nexus 7. Also, the timing of the launching is to defend against the upcoming iPad Mini of Apple.
The iPad Mini is rumored to be unveiled in October. No official word or indication has been received from Apple yet about it.
If the news turn to be true then tablet market will break wide open. A tablet from Google and Asus for only $99 could become an impulse for uncountable numbers of potential customers across the world. It will also pose a serious threat to the iPad Mini and the dominance of Apple in the tablet market.
Well, the fact with it would be the Web giant may be losing a pretty penny on each tablet to be sold at $99. If not, the specs may be scaled down, but this will ruin the name of Google as well as Android.
Whatever be the reason, a cheap Nexus tablet would be surly a sweet surprise to people across the world this holidays.
