Windows 8 Sales Not Going as Microsoft Expected

At the end of last month, Microsoft officially released its new Windows OS version, along with PC’s, mobile devices and laptops that are optimized to run it. Windows 8 represents a whole different approach from what we’ve seen with older versions of the OS. It is a bold move from Microsoft, launching an OS that plans on redefining the experience.

How well do the Windows 8 sales fare. Paul Thurrott, a specialist into Microsoft sales, claims that he has learned from reliable sources that Windows 8 sales go way beyond expectations. It is not only the case with the software, but also with tablets and smartphones featuring the new OS. The blame is naturally that of the manufacturers that fail to advertise their devices in an efficient meaner. The source referred to the manufacturer’s “inability to deliver” - meaning their products don’t meet the consumer’s expectations.

Windows 8 – be it RT, Phone or Professional – is optimized for touchscreen devices and gestures throughout the OS. For the time beying, with the exception of mobile devices, there aren’t that many PC’s or touch enabled displays available on sale. Things are moving in that direction but rather slow, beyond expectations.
