We’re only half way through November and it’s already proven to be a very exciting (read: busy) month for us here at BlackBerry®. In case you’ve missed some of the latest news, here’s a quick wrap-up:
We kicked off the month with BlackBerry ® 10 devices hitting “Lab Entry” with 54 carriers around the globe — a major milestone in getting BlackBerry 10 into your hands.
On the government side, BlackBerry 10 devices achieved FIPS 140-2 Security Certification. The certification will enable government agencies to deploy BlackBerry 10 smartphones and BlackBerry® Enterprise Service 10, the new mobile enterprise management solution for BlackBerry devices, from the day of launch.
Developers were pleased to hear that the Gold SDK will be released on December 11th, 2012. With this, they’ll be able to complete their final testing and tweaking, and can submit their apps with the knowledge that they will run on the commercial release of BlackBerry 10 smartphone OS.
Last but certainly not least, we announced the date of the BlackBerry 10 launch event — January 30, 2013. This is the day that we’ll show you the details and features behind the BlackBerry 10 devices.
Outside of our family of blogs, our executive team has been on tour showing off the device to media around the glove. After carrier entry, Thorsten Heins met with journalist Rory Cellan-Jones in the BBC News studios, where he stated that BlackBerry remains on track to launch the latest BlackBerry 10 devices. Here’s what Thorsten has said of his recent carrier meetings:
I have spent the last several weeks on the road visiting with carrier partners around the world to show them the BlackBerry 10 platform and to share with them our plans for launch. Their response has been tremendous. They are excited about the prospect of launching BlackBerry 10 in their markets. Our respective teams are now engaged on the technical and commercial preparation of the launch of BlackBerry 10 and the lab entry is an important milestone in that context.
Vivek Bhardwaj has also been on the road to show off the new BlackBerry 10 software, and the response has been fantastic. Here he is giving a demo to Bloomberg.
As you can see, it’s definitely been exciting times here around the office. What about you? Are you excited to get your hands on BlackBerry 10? Let us know what feature you’re looking forward to the most. Only 74 more sleeps!
