Microsoft Unveils Actual Free Memory Available with the Surface Tablets

Most device owners already know the fact that the storage capacity on paper differs from the actual available space you get with any storage component. This has been the case with computer HDD and is also true in the case of mobile devices. With smartphones or tablets that have only built-in memory some of it is taken by the OS and redundant files while the bigger part is available for the user.

Microsoft posted today a list showing the available Surface Tablet memory capacities and the actual available free space to the end user. Gathering from it we can’t help but wonder where the memory is allocated. Given that the Surface runs the RT version of Windows 8, we don’t see why the 64 GB version only has 46GB of free space. 32 GB device owners will be surprised to see that they only get 16 GB of free space. Fortunately there is the possibility of adding an microSD Card if you find your storage need to be insufficient.
