Samsung Galaxy Note II and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Hit AT&T

We’ve reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Note II here and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 here, so considering they’ve just hit AT&T, you have good sources of information. You’ll find both products in stores with the mention that the Note II has already registered some success internationally, with 3 million units sold since launch.

And that’s a pretty decent figure considering the product was launched at the end of September. Galaxy Note 2 comes with a big 5.5 inch screen, that was thought to scare away customers, but apparently they saw past that. You also get a top notch quad core processor of the Exynos kind, 2 GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera and a great stylus, plus great software associated with it (S Pen and the likes). On AT&T Galaxy Note II will set you back $299 on contract for 2 y ears.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is a bit more expensive, going for $399 at AT&T, also with a contract. I can’t really figure out why this tablet is priced so high, since it’s actually pretty old and it gives you only a dual core Texas Instruments OMAP 4 processor at 1 GHz, plus 1 GB of RAM and the TouchWiz UI slowing you down. Ready for some AT&T shopping?

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update Reaches Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Germany’s First!

Samsung has started updating the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, that we reviewed right here to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. SamMobile is reporting that the German Galaxy Note 10.1 is the first one to get the fresh software, that’s being pushed out to the pen-packing slate.

It totals to a 300 MB over the air download and after upgrading, the devices should run software version N8000XXBLJ9. The update arrives 3 months after the Galaxy Note 10.1 was launched in Europe and USA with Android 4.0 ICS. With this new update, the device is expected to get snappier, more responsive thanks to Project Butter and get more software goodies like Google Now. No idea what’s happening with the other Note 10.1 units outside Germany, but I’m guessing they’ll get the update soon, too.

If you want to get the software by yourselves, in the source link below there’s an ODIN-flashable version of the German ROM available. As usual, we recommend you to wait for the official software. Hopefully Android 4.2 will come faster to this quad core slate with 2 GB of RAM.

Samsung Galaxy Express comes to AT&T November 16th

The month of November just keeps on for AT&T and Samsung. With devices like the Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 on their way you would think the Samsung party would soon come to a halt, but alas another new devices has been announced.

Ma Bell has announced forthcoming availability of the Samsung Galaxy Express, a mid-range smartphone that should appeal to those not looking to pay the $200-300 for a Samsung Galaxy S3 or a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. It’ll cost you $100 after a new two-year contract and any rebates to walk away with the package, and the specs actually get pretty close to what the Samsung Galaxy S3 is offering.

You can look forward to a 1.5GHz dual-core processor (likely of the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 variety), a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, a 5 megapixel rear camera, a front-facing camera, a 2,000mAh battery, Android 4.0, LTE, NFC and more. You can also expect TouchWiz, though we’re not sure to what extent.

Samsung has done well to offer a variety of devices for a wide range of budgets, and this latest offering is one of the most powerful mid-range priced devices we’ve seen yet. Just a year ago a device like this would be considered top-of-the-line, cutting edge hardware so it’s interesting to see how far that side of the smartphone has come.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Accused of Infringing Apple Patents, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Also Accused

Remember our Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 review? When we appreciated the device for everything but its creaking case we had no idea that some day it will fall into the same category as the Galaxy Tab 10.1: yet another Apple patent infringing device. Apple recently told a judge that Samsung’s 10.1 inch tablet with a stylus infringes its patents… and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean too.

Apple made the arguments on Tuesday to a US Magistrate, Judge Paul S. Grewal. The Cupertino giant’s move is basically a response to the attack on the iPhone 5, that was accused to infringe some patents at Samsung. Apple already won a $1.05 billion verdict against the Asian company back in August, in a separate patent case, but in the same court. Samsung started selling the Galaxy Note 10.1 in August, featuring a stylus, quad core CPU and overall a great and original package.

Samsung’s slates have been cleared of accusations, especially the Galaxy Tab 10.1, that was cleared of the ban on October 1st, after not being found guilty of breaching Apple intellectual property. Andrew Liao, Apple attorney told the judge that Galaxy Nexus is the only Jelly Bean handset that will be added to the complaint, plus 17 devices that could use a stylus, strange as that may seem. Is thus maybe a hint that Apple has a stylus-based toy in the making?

I guess we’ll know first and go to trial later, since the schedule for Jelly Bean’s trial is in 2014.

Logitech Bluetooth Android keyboard only $10 – Better hurry [DEALS]

With less than 4 hours left before it expires, the Logitech Bluetooth Keyboard Case for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (and other Android devices) is one helluva deal. Part protective case and part bluetooth keyboard, the Zagg-designed (caseboard? keycase?) is being offered at a staggering low $10 on 1SaleADay — but only for the next few hours.

I happened to purchase this a few weeks back on another daily deals site for around $15 and absolutely love it. It charges via micro USB (same as your phone), and works beautifully on my Samsung Galaxy S3. Yes, I know this was made specifically for the Galaxy Tab, but it can prop up most small devices and tablets with little fuss. Great for meetings, notes, or messing around. The money you get you can spend on powerful spaceships and weapons, on wingmen or purchasing components to build your very own weapons. 3D graphics, superb galaxies and a great epic soundtrack make Galaxy on Fire 2 HD a truly great title.
