Will More Shoppers Buy via Mobile Devices This Year? (Holiday Shopping / Black Friday Info Graphic)

The biggest mistake any retailer can make this year is not having an online presence with their store, and more specifically, not having a mobile store where mobile shoppers can buy your products during this year’s holiday and Black Friday shopping season.

As you can see in the info graph below, the number of shoppers this year during the holiday shopping season and Black Friday, is up over 4% this year compared to last year.  That equates to nearly $586.1 billion dollars being spent during the 2012 holiday and Black Friday shopping season.

One of the more impressive stats I see when it comes to holiday shopping via mobile phones is that nearly 47% of shoppers consider their mobile device a vital tool in their holiday and Black Friday shopping AND spend over $800 this holiday and Black Friday shopping season.

The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-Earth for Android now available

If you’re feeling the need to jump into Tolkien’s world of elves, dwarves, wizards and goblins then a new game is awaiting you in the Google Play Store. It’s called The Hobbit: Kingdom of Middle-Earth and it’s a massively-multiplayer strategy action game that’ll have you forming alliances with fellow leaders tasked with the need to help Bilbo, Gandalf and the rest of the gang fight a goblin resistance which threatens Middle-Earth.

The game’s core mechanic is city-building, and you must build these cities up to help against the goblin army. You play as either an elf or a dwarf, and the two races must set aside their pretty differences and come together to strike against a common foe.

The game’s description does mention that the “rift between Elves and Dwarves runs deep.” We’re not sure if that hints at some sort of gameplay dynamic or if it’s foresight into what’s to come from future updates, but it has our attention nonetheless.

Heroes like Legolas and Thorin can lead your troops into battle to give you that extra edge you need to take down the goblins. Angry Birds Star Wars is now officially available in the Google Play Store

In a sequel that’s sure to breathe new life into the franchise, Angry Birds Star Wars is now officially available in the Google Play Store. Developer Rovio held a Google Hangout earlier this evening and announced the good news and quite honestly, I couldn’t be more hyped. A wonderful mixture of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars universe, melded with Angry Birds, somehow it just all works.

I’m actually going to put down Halo 4 for a minute to give it a spin and will report back in the morning with a hands-on video. You guys can give it a spin by downloading it in the Play Store in either the free, or the $3 for the HD version. May the fowl be with you.

RadioShack offering Nexus 7 32GB for $230

If you want to take a quick $2o off your Nexus 7 32GB you might want to consider it buying from RadioShack instead of the Google Play Store. The retailer is offering the device for $250 — that’s Google’s price, too. But Google isn’t offering this cool coupon code that’ll take $20 off any order of $125 or more.

This deal effectively brings the price down to $230, and while that’s not a terribly steep door-busting deal it should prove helpful for those who want to offset tax or shipping chargers they might otherwise accrue.

The Nexus 7 32GB should be quite the awesome device with its Tegra 3 chipset and completely stock, pure Android. But many were vexed to find out that there is no room for expandable storage. For most, 8GB isn’t enough, and 16GB is just barely acceptable. This new 32GB option was a must, and Google bringing it in at the the 16GB model’s original price tag means the Nexus 7 has gone back onto a lot of people’s radars and wishlists.

Unfortunately the device appears to be out of stock as of the time of this writing, and we expected that considering many people are likely to jump at a juicy deal like this without delay. But keep an eye on it and see if it doesn’t pick back up over the course of the week. You’ll want to keep coupon code RMN20 handy if you want to take advantage.

CallApp marries your social life to caller ID

A new interesting app has hit the Google Play Store that aims to help enhance your social life. Its name is CallApp, and it’s an incoming call app that’ll give you updates from the social networking profiles of whoever’s calling you at that time. You can pull info from the likes of LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and more, and it goes beyond just telling you the caller’s most recent status message.

For instance, you’ll get the person’s occupation from LinkedIn, the next event from their Facebook calendar, and the latest email they’ve sent to you at a glance. The app goes beyond just setting up social networking hooks. You can setup meetings, reminders, write notes, and more while on a call and have it automatically associated with that contact.

I’m not one to replace my stock caller ID experience, but CallApp certainly makes me want to. When you factor in the ease of setup — your friends don’t have to use CallApp at all — you’ll probably look to try it, too.

It’s a free download from the Google Play Store, and judging by the glowing reviews it has it looks like it won’t disappoint. Go ahead and give it a shot following a brief 3.7MB download.
