Newly updated Nexus 7, Nexus 10 Tablet, & Nexus 4 Smartphone and more
Despite cancelling a news conference in New York City because of Hurricane Sandy, Google proceeded with a major announcement via their blog where they introduced a newly updated Nexus 7 tablet, Nexus 10 tablet, and a new Nexus 4 smartphone – all of which are running on Google Android’s latest OS, Android 4.2 which (according to Google) is “a new flavor of Jelly Bean”.
In Google’s blog post, they simply said “…we’re excited to announce three great new Nexus devices … in small, medium and large. And they all run Android 4.2, a new flavor of Jelly Bean—which includes the latest version of Google Now and other great new features.”
More details on the Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Nexus 4 smartphone below, but speaking of the newly update Google Now (no pun intended), it looks like Siri is about to get put in her place.

Regarding the release and availability of the Nexus 7, Nexus 4, and 10 inch Nexus 10 tablet, you can read the specifics below. What’s going to really ramp up the sales of the Google lineup of tablets and smartphones is that wide spread availability with other retailers such as Gamestop, Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, and Walmart. And of course, I’m assuming we’ll see these devices on Amazon as well.
What’s interesting about this announcement from Google is their availability in over 2,000 Walmart Stores. Walmart announced last month they will no longer be selling Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD tablets. Obviously, Walmart finally realized that Amazon was a direct competitor and that people probably did as much shopping on their Kindle Fire tablet’s at Amazon.com than they did on regular computers – all of which is directly competing with Walmart. But people surely know they can install Amazon apps on their Nexus 7 and other Android smartphones and tablets as well.
Oh well, Google is surely excited about the prospects of these devices being carried on the shelves of the world’s biggest retailers.
